The nominations phase of the Transport for Ireland People's Awards 2014 has now closed.

Winners will be announced Monday 8th December.

Terms & Conditions

1.The promoter of this competition is Transport for Ireland on behalf of the National Transport Authority.

2.Entries will be accepted from Tuesday October 21st and close on Wednesday November 19th at 1pm. Winning entries will be selected by a judging panel and will be announced on Monday December 8th. Judges’ decision is final.

3.Entries must be submitted via independent.ie/tfiawards2014 and comprise either a short story, video or photo entry under a selected category (Above & Beyond, Public Transport Ambassador, Most Reformed Commuter, Best Travel Companion and Most Stylish Commuter) to be eligible for consideration.

4.This competition is open to entrants of all ages. However, Transport for Ireland reserves the right to seek the permission of parent(s)/guardian(s) of entrants below the age of 18.

5.Entry is open to all residents of the Republic of Ireland, except for direct employees of the National Transport Authority.

6.Only entrants who submit correct registration details will be eligible.

7.One entry per category will be accepted per email address and all entries must be received before the closing date. No responsibility will be accepted for entries lost or delayed in the course of transmission.

8.By completing the entry form online, confirming that you have read the terms and conditions of entry and submitting your entry (selecting the ’submit’ button) to Independent.ie, you are deemed to have accepted all terms and conditions.

9.Your entry should be compliant with our guidelines – you should only submit material that qualifies as your own original work and which does not infringe upon the rights of any individual or organisation. You will be held liable for any contributions including any text, photographs, graphics, video, audio or otherwise, which you submit to Independent.ie, Independent Digital and Independent Newspapers Ireland Ltd.


You agree that your submissions
• will not contain any unlawful or objectionable content, whether harassing, bullying, abusive, threatening, obscene, or otherwise offensive
• will not contain any libellous or defamatory material, including, but not limited to, suggestions of inappropriate, underhanded, fraudulent or criminal behaviour; dishonesty, misconduct, or corruption; professional incompetence; contagious disease; sexual impropriety; or parental neglect
• will be civil and tasteful, not containing any foul or abusive language or attacks of a personal nature on other contributors, Independent News and Media, Transport for Ireland or the National Transport Authority.
• will not use vulgar or offensive usernames
• will not repeatedly submit the same content or engage in other activities which may be construed as ‘spamming’
• will not impersonate any other persons
• will contain only material which is your own original work, not violating, plagiarising, or infringing the rights of any organisation including copyright, trade mark, trade secrets, privacy, publicity, personal or proprietary rights.

Transport for Ireland reserves the right to reject or remove an entry at any stage of the competition if considered, at its sole discretion, to be inappropriate. You acknowledge that any breach of these warranties may cause us damage or loss and you agree to indemnify us in full and permanently against any third party liabilities, claims, costs, loss or damage we incur as a result of publishing material you submit to us, including consequential losses. By sharing any contribution with Independent.ie, you agree to grant to Independent.ie, Independent Digital, Independent Newspapers ( Ireland) Ltd, Transport for Ireland, the National Transport Authority and any other bodies involved, free of charge, permission to use the material in any way it wants (including modifying and adapting it for various reasons including operational, editorial and advertorial use). Copyright in your contribution will remain with you and this permission is not exclusive, so you can continue to use the material in any way including allowing others to use it. In order that your contribution can be used, you confirm that your contribution is your own original work, is not defamatory and does not infringe any Irish laws, that you have the right to give permission to use it for the purposes specified above, and that you have the consent of anyone who is identifiable in your contribution or the consent of their parent / guardian if they are under 16. Any materials submitted in or containing languages other than Irish or English may be rejected.

10.Prize details as follows:
- The 5 winning category nominators will each receive an iPad Mini WiFi 16GB
- The 5 winning category nominees will each receive an iPad Air WiFi 16GB
- The winner of Best Photo Entry will receive a Nikon Coolpix Digital Camera P530.
Winners will be notified by email and/or phone.

11.Prizes are non-transferable and cannot be redeemed for cash or any other equivalent. In the event of a dispute, the decision of the promoter is final.

12.In the event of a prize becoming unavailable, Transport for Ireland reserves the right to substitute an alternative prize of equal or greater value.

13.All entrants and prize winners agree to the use of their names, images and entries for publicity and promotional purposes during and after campaign completion for up to 6 months. Agreement is without compensation, but copyright will remain with the entrant, as per point 10 above.

14.The personal details which have been submitted for the competition will be held by Independent News and Media and Transport for Ireland. This information will only be shared with third parties involved with the Competition for the administration of the Competition and/or the supply and delivery of prizes, unless otherwise agreed. The personal details will only be held for 12 months and will then be destroyed and/or deleted unless you have consented to future contact.

15.To maximum extent permitted by law, Transport for Ireland, the National Transport Authority and Independent News & Media are excluded from liability for any loss, damage or injury which might occur to any winner resulting from his or her acceptance of a prize.
